ManageEngine, the real-time IT management company, today announced patch management support for Apple Mac systems in the latest release of Desktop Central, the company’s desktop and mobile device management (MDM) software. From a central location, IT organizations running Desktop Central can now manage desktops, laptops and servers running Mac OS X 10.6 or later.

With March Madness underway, IT teams across the country are feeling the impact of the NCAA basketball tournament games streaming on their companies’ networks. After all, a lot of employees will spend the end of March and beginning of April splitting their time between watching hoops on the job and actually doing their jobs. According to one national survey, 34 percent of all employed adults will watch at least one tournament game at work.

Earlier this week, Windows IT Pro (News – Alert) named Desktop Central 8 by ManageEngine one of its Top 10 Windows Server Administration tools for 2013.
Desktop management features include mobile device management capabilities, as well as remote desktop control. Even the free version enables controls for 25 desktops and two mobile devices.
Additional capabilities include USB device management, patch management, service pack installation and software deployment.
